City head groundsman departs the Sky Blues
Coventry City head groundsman John Ledwidge is waving a fond farewell to the Sky Blues after nearly four years with the club.
The head groundsman has spent his tenure tending the playing surfaces of the Ricoh Arena and City's Ryton training ground for the club and Ricoh Arena management company Arena Coventry Limited (ACL).
He is now though seeing out his last few days with the Sky Blues before starting work on the Ricoh Arena pitch full time from the start of June.
Ledwidge said: "As a City fan I just want to say how amazing it has been to work for the club I support, and continue to support.
"I've worked with some amazing people and I leave a fantastic team dedicated to doing a first class job for the club."
After starting his career as a 13-year-old at Highfield Road, Ledwidge moved to full-time tending of the pitches at the club's Ryton training facility at 16.
Ledwidge left the club to join Aston Villa three years later before returning to Coventry as head groundmans on his 24th birthday, overseeing the pitch at the Ricoh Arena on behalf of ACL as well as overall management of the club's groundkeeping responsibilities.
Club chief executive Tim Fisher said: "John's service to the club has been exemplary and we wish him all the very best for the future."
