Ahead of tomorrow’s crucial League One clash, 19-year old George Thomas is hoping his hometown side can learn from their midweek mistakes.
Late heartbreak against AFC Wimbledon on Tuesday evening meant further points dropped in the club's effort to maintain their League One status.
Thomas said: “It was a massive disappointment, and huge frustration as well because it is not the first time this season we have conceded late.
"We knew it was a massive three points to get, so we were all frustrated with ourselves that we let it happen again.
“There has been some big points we have dropped in recent months, but we just have to keep going and try to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
“It probably is a mental thing, how we have to stay switched on for the full game. It was a tough place to go, with a tough pitch so it’s even more disappointing when you concede late."
Russell Slade’s side welcome Gillingham to the Ricoh tomorrow afternoon, with the Gills having drawn their previous five games and without a victory since December.
“It’s a massive game for us," the Welshman added. "Three points is essential. I think it’s also important to put on a good performance because that can give everybody a lift going into the next few games.
“Im enjoying my role in the team, it’s a little different on the right-hand side because it’s a position I’ve not played for a few years. The results are disappointing, and if we can turn them around and I can keep myself in the side that would be even better.
“The defence were really good against AFC Wimbledon, but as a team we need to see games through. Hopefully we can achieve that this weekend and pick up an important three points.”
