The Sky Blues suffered defeat against Ipswich Town at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
The first attempt on goal fell to the visitors and it was a shot from range by Omari Hutchinson which was gathered comfortably by Brad Collins.
However, the next effort saw the game’s opening goal and it was Kieffer Moore who was on the end of a Wes Burns cut-back and he fired the ball into the back of the net.
City went in search of a leveller, and they came close through a long-range strike from Ben Sheaf, but his attempt whistled past the post.
Another chance came and it was Kasey Palmer who’s strike came off two Ipswich players before falling at the feet of Haji Wright and somehow his strike was kept out by Vaclav Hladky.
Seconds before the break, Brad Collins produced an excellent stop to keep out Nathan Broadhead’s header from inside the area.
HALF-TIME: Sky Blues 0-1 Ipswich Town
The second half saw City continue to search for an equaliser, this time it was Josh Eccles who struck the ball from distance, with his shot flying into the side netting.
A misplaced pass at the back presented Broadhead with an opportunity to double the visitors lead, but his shot came back off the woodwork.
City were back in the game and on level terms just after the hour mark when Haji Wright latched onto a through ball and fired the ball past Hladky.
At the other end, Collins was called into action once more and yet again he made an excellent stop, this time keeping out Sarmiento.
Collins then had to be quick off his line to deny Broadhead in a one-v-one, with the City shot-stopper coming out on top.
However, Collins was unable to prevent Ipswich retaking the lead from a free-kick into the box which was eventually turned in by Christian Burgess.
Aidan Dausch was introduced for his home debut and he almost had the final say when he took a touch and looked for the bottom corner, but his shot went narrowly wide.
