Coventry City have signed striker Darius Henderson until the end of the 2015/16 season.

The Sky Blues have snapped up the 34-year old target-man after he was released by League One side Scunthorpe United on Monday.

Henderson started his career at Reading before enjoying spells at Brighton, Gillingham, Watford and Sheffield United.

During the 2014/15 season, the former Nottingham Forest striker scored 8 goals in 16 starts for Leyton Orient in League One before moving to the Iron in the summer.

City boss Tony Mowbray said: "Darius will give us another important option up front from now until the end of the season.

"He is a big lad, a goal threat and is very dominant in the opposition area which is something we've needed against certain types of opposition.

"I've spoken about a plan B in the past and Darius definitely gives us that. He's got a lot of experience and we're glad he is here to strengthen our ranks."
