Coventry City join forced with the Royal British Legion for this year's Poppy Appeal

24 October 2014

Sky Blues to hold collections at forthcoming fixtures for the Poppy Appeal starting with this Saturday's home tie with Peterborough United

Coventry City Football Club have teamed up with The Royal British Legion to launch this year’s Poppy Appeal.

Chief executive Steve Waggott went to the West Orchards Shopping Centre on Friday morning to back this year’s campaign launch and then attended the City of Coventry Memorial Garden at Holy Trinity Church following the event.

The annual appeal aims to raise funds for our essential welfare work for service men and women, veterans, and their families.

Coventry City will also be lending their support to the appeal with bucket collections at upcoming matches, starting with Saturday’s (October 25) games against Peterborough United at the Ricoh Arena.

Mark Hornby, Coventry City marketing manager, said: “The importance of the Poppy Appeal is well-known and, as a club, we have always been committed to playing our part in supporting those who sacrifice to protect others.”
