Coventry City have extended the loan of striker Adam Armstrong from Newcastle United.

The 19-year old forward will now stay with the Sky Blues until May 2016 after impressing for City in League One this season.

Armstrong has already scored 16 goals this campaign, which includes a fine hat-trick against Crewe Alexandra in a 5-0 win at Gresty Road.

The striker has already made 19 appearances for his parent club, making his debut for the Magpies during the 2013/14 season against Fulham at the age of 16.

The England Under-19 international will now get the chance to continue his goal-scoring exploits at the Ricoh Arena and City boss Tony Mowbray is delighted to get the extension done.

Mowbray said: "We're delighted to have Adam here until the end of the season as he has had a fantastic impact during his time at the club.

“He is progressing well and we are delighted that Newcastle feel that he is in the best environment for his future development.

"Adam is a great lad to work with, always listening and always looking to improve, and has always shown a great attitude on the training pitch.

"With more games, I'm sure he'll continue to improve and we hope he’ll continue to positively impact the club's season."
