Sky Blues manager joins in presentation of cheque after kicking off the match that raised money for local charity

A charity football match raised £1,000 for the Grace Research Fund.

The match between Deeley Construction and Travis Perkins was staged to raise money for the charity, which funds research to improve the health and wellbeing of premature babies and their families in Coventry and Warwickshire.

Coventry City manager Steven Pressley was on hand to blow the first whistle when the match kicked off earlier this year and he invited representatives of the charity to the club’s training ground to handover the cheque.

He said: “I was delighted to get the game underway and I am even more pleased to see what a great sum of money it raised for such a wonderful cause.

“We have got to know the Grace Research Fund very well over the past year and we know what great work they do on behalf of babies and their families in this area.

“So huge credit goes to the companies involved for staging the match and raising so much money for the charity.”

The game was organised by Edward Hudson, business development co-ordinator at Deeley Construction.

He said: “I don’t think any of the footballing talent on show caught Steven’s eye on the night but we are extremely grateful for his input. He was extremely accommodating on the night of the match and then in inviting us down to the training ground to present the cheque.

“We have supported the Grace Research Fund over many years now as a company and we are very pleased to have raised £1,000 for them through this match.”
