Sky Blues welcome first new face of the summer after completing signing of midfielder Danny Swanson

Coventry City have completed the signing of Scottish wide midfielder Danny Swanson on a two-year deal, subject to Football League and FA approval.

The 27-year-old, now a free agent following the end of a two-year contract at fellow League One side Peterborough United, has committed his future to the Sky Blues until June 2016.

Swanson started his professional career with Berwick Rangers, making 44 appearances and scoring four goals before sealing a move to the Scottish top flight with Dundee United in 2008.

The attack-minded playmaker amassed 107 appearances and 12 goals for the Tangerines before being snapped up by Peterborough United in 2012.

He played 79 times and scored five goals for Posh under manager Darren Ferguson during a two-year spell at London Road which came to an end this summer.

Sky Blues boss Steven Pressley said: "Danny is an exciting, technically gifted footballer who provides a real threat out wide and I'm delighted to get him in.

"We were not the only club looking to sign him so to get a deal done that brings him here is great news.

"He's got great footballing intelligence, he has a great attitude and he's hungry for success which makes him a perfect fit for us."
