The Ricoh Arena will play host to the annual Legends Day celebration this coming Saturday against Bury and Coventry City will be raising money for two charities with close association to the late Jimmy Hill.
Saturday’s event will serve as special commemoration for the former Sky Blues' manager and chairman, who sadly passed away in December of last year. In honour of Jimmy Hill we are welcoming collectors from Sparks and the Alzheimer’s Society to the Ricoh Arena as we pay tribute to the memory of Jimmy and his ‘Sky Blue Revolution.’
Collectors will be situated outside the turnstiles and in the corporate lounges during this weekend’s Shakers clash, where we will also be hosting former City players - including a few to represent City during the infamous Jimmy Hill era.
Sparks
Jimmy was one of a group of leading sports personalities in the 1960’s who founded Sparks as part of Action Medical Research - a charity to help sick children. Thanks to his dedication and support, the lives of many children and families have been changed for the better.
Sparks believes every child should have the best possible start in life – which is why they focus on funding pioneering medical research into a broad range of conditions affecting children’s health.
In 1991, Sparks became an independent charity, funding ground breaking paediatric medical research projects across a wide range of conditions affecting pregnant women, babies and young children – from the most common conditions to the rarest diseases.

Jimmy endured a heart-breaking battle with Alzheimer’s in his final years. Alzheimer's disease is a physical condition that affects the brain. There are more than 520,000 people in the UK who are suffering from Alzheimer's day to day.
