Carsley and Oggy to take training

Carsley also set to be in charge for Bury clash if Robins' move goes through

Lee Carsley will take charge of Coventry City training today (Thursday), supported by Steve Ogrizovic, as the players return to Ryton.

The City squad will come back from a midweek rest day to be put through their paces by the experienced duo after the club reluctantly accepted Huddersfield Town’s approach for manager Mark Robins.

Carsley looks set to be in charge when City travel to Bury on Saturday if Robins’s move goes through.

Development director Steve Waggott said: “Lee will look after the team assisted by Steve and we are very lucky to have two great football men, both with the club very much at heart, who can take care of things on the pitch while we work behind the scenes.

“It will be very much business as usual for the team. We have to ensure that we continue the progress we have been making.”

He added: “As of Wednesday evening, Mark Robins was still in discussion with Huddersfield but we have already started planning ahead because we have an important game on Saturday and still have a huge amount to play for this season.

“There won’t be a knee-jerk reaction but we have to move relatively quickly, although we must follow a process to get the right person in to pick up the managerial baton and drive us on.

“Of course, we didn’t want to be in this position again but the fact that we went through this process five months ago means much of the groundwork has already been done.

“There are new candidates out there now because of the nature of football and because we are in a much stronger position than we were in August, it makes the job of Coventry City manager an even more attractive proposition.

“Again, we’ve had approaches from some high-calibre candidates and we have to start the process now.”
