Coventry City were 1-0 winners over Bradford City in the Sky Bet League One fixture at the Ricoh Arena, thanks to a spectacular Andy Rose goal.

The game seemed a possible stalemate as neither side could really test the opposite keeper, until Andy Rose volleyed home to give the Sky Blues the win.

There was a change in formation as Mowbray switched it to a three at the back. Romain Vincelot, Aaron Martin and Jack Stephens were the trio, as Aaron Phillips and Sam Ricketts operated in wing-back roles. John Fleck and Joe Cole would operate in the centre of midfield with James Maddison coming into the starting XI to play alongside Ruben Lameiras, behind Adam Armstrong up front.

The first real opening of the game in the 11th minute as Ruben Lameiras collected ball near the edge of the area, and played it to James Maddison. Maddison rolled the ball onto Sam Ricketts in space, down the left of the area, who cut in before firing a shot towards goal, but it was deflected out for a corner.

The Sky Blues were seeing plenty of the ball but the Bantams would have their chances on the break. In the 26th minute, Tony McMahon came close, shooting across goal from a Billy Clarke pull back.

However, a minute to half-time the biggest moment in the half came, as City had a strong penalty claim waved away by referee Rob Lewis. Bright play from Lameiras down the left-flank saw him skip past his defender into the box. The skillful midfielder was about to pull the trigger, when the defender seem to grab him and wrestle him to the ground. But the referee was unmoved as Bradford cleared.

It was a slow beginning to the second half, with both teams playing well without either keeper really being tested. However, within seconds of coming on, Andy Rose scored a stunner to give City the lead in the 59th minute. The midfielder, found himself on the edge of the area seconds after coming on, and as the ball dropped out of the air, he volleyed home over Ben Williams, as the ball dipped and went in off the crossbar.

The Bantams almost equalised in the 63rd minute through Clarke. Jamie Proctor controlled the ball in the box and rolled it into the path of the on-rushing Clarke, who opted to place the ball, but his effort went wide of the bottom left-corner.

Four minutes later, Reice Charles-Cook was called into action, making a brilliant save from Lee Evans. The defender directed a header towards the top-right corner but, the Sky Blues' stopper dived to his right spectacularly to push the ball out for a corner. The Bantams however, were later reduced to 10 men after substitute Steven Davies was sent off for kicking out.

Into the closing stages of the game, Bradford were awarded a free kick on the edge of the area after Kyel Reid was brought down. Evans directed the ball towards the bottom right-corner but Charles-Cook was on-hand to save. City defended valiantly in the five mites of added time, managing to see out the game to win their second game in a row.
