Coventry City recorded their first win of the 2013/14 League One in dramatic fashion over visiting Bristol City after a nine-goal thriller at Sixfields Stadium.
Braces from young duo Callum Wilson and Billy Daniels, who netted the winner three minutes from time, were enough to pick up City's first three points of the season after Leon Clarke had opened the scoring from the spot.
Steven Pressley's men were infact three goals up at half time thanks to Clarke, Wilson and Daniels but fans witnessed a second half resurgence from the Robins which saw them rub out the Sky Blues' first half cushion.
Wilson put City back in the lead at 4-3 until Bristol grabbed another equaliser in a game which then seemed destined to end in a draw until Daniels grabbed a late winner fir his first and second senior goals.
Seven minutes later it was the Sky Blues who posed a threat again when Callum Wilson got away from his marker and went one-on-one with Frankie Fielding who saved well with his legs and then got down to stop Thomas' follow-up from the edge of the area.
Wilson's pace continued to trouble the Robins back four and it resulted in a stonewall penalty three minutes before the half hour when he was pushed in the back by Aden Flint, the referee pointing the the spot and Leon Clarke comfortably dispatching from 12 yards to give the Sky Blues a deserved lead.
Clarke very nearly got a second eight minutes before the break when patient build up play from Coventry ended with a neat through ball from Billy Daniels to the striker who tried to dink a finish over the oncoming Fielding only for the shotstopper to be too quick to Clarke's feet to smother the danger.
City didn't have to wait long for their second though which came five minutes later.
A superb through ball from John Fleck picked out Wilson in the area who turned inside Flint before firing past Fielding into the far corner.
No sooner had the Sky Blues got their second they then got a third in first half half injury time.
Blair Adams's tireless work down the left allowed him to dispossess Brendan Moloney and play a ball back to Franck Moussa who drove inside before floating a dep cross that picked out Daniels to loft a header of Fielding and into the net.
The Sky Blues came out for the second half in the same manner in which they finished the first but it was Bristol City who were next on the scoresheet with a scrappy goal nine minutes after the restart.
Jay Emmanuel-Thomas crashed a shot against Joe Murphy's near post and the rebound hit Sam Baldock inside the six-yard area, the ball bobbling over the line with the referee waving away Murphy's appeals for handball.
Two minutes after the hour and the visitors had closed the deficit to just one goal courtesy of Emmanuel-Thomas who turned from provider into scorer.
It was again a fortunate turn of events for the Robins who won a free kick 20 yards which Emmanuel-Thomas took, his effort taking a wicked deflection and finding its way past Murphy.
There was nothing fortunate about the equaliser on 74 minutes though when Baldock isolated Jordan Clarke and dispossessed him before cooly finishing past Murphy.
Sky Blues fans' disappointment soon turned to elation once again though when, just a minute later, Fontaine failed to deal with a high ball which allowed Wilson to get infront of him in the area.
Fielding did well to keep out Wilson's first attempted header at goal but he could do nothing about the striker's follow-up volley which re-instated City's lead.
Bristol City were on level terms again with six minutes to go though courtesy of Marvin Elliott when Emmanuel-Thomas picked him out with a delivery into the heart of the Sky Blues area, Elliott taking a touch before hooking a shot beyond the reach of Murphy and into the far corner.
Just when fans thought they had seen it all though there was yet another twist in store on 87 minutes when a long ball found Leon Clarke at the byline to tap a ball back across the six-yard box for Daniels to tap his second of the afternoon home and get the Sky Blues' 2013/14 campaign off the mark.
